Movie Rating Scale

It can be quite difficult to rate a film on a scale from 1 to 10. In fact, I'm sure that many people don't even bother to do so (as proven by the fact that the top two ratings given to a film on IMDb is either 1 or 10).

Over the past few years, I developed what I believe to be a fairly reasonable scale that allows me to put some thought into the rating a film gets (instead of pulling a random number out of a hat).

I realized I never shared this scale, so I will do so now and I will link to the scale from all future reviews.

10/10 I absolutely loved the film and probably have already pre-ordered the DVD.

9/10 I really liked the film and I will definitely be willing to watch it again.

8/10
I enjoyed the film and probably wouldn't mind watching it again.

7/10
The film had its moments, but I wouldn't rush to see it again.

6/10
The film was watchable, but it is unlikely that I will see it again.

5/10
I don't really know what to think of the film, chances are slim that I'll watch it again.

4/10
I was very disappointed by the film, and will probably not see it again.

3/10
The film really tried my patience, I am glad when it is over.

2/10
I wish I chose another film to see.

1/10
I wonder why I even saw the film at all.

That's all. I have to agree that the difference between 1-4 is very blurry (and I have only ever rated four films lower than 4), but I am happy with this system and hopefully you will see why I weighted my ratings this way.
