Lost Episode Fest 2017: Bad Girl

A teenage troublemaker develops a dangerous friendship with her neighbour in Bad Girl. 17 year old Amy (Sara West) is not happy about moving into a display home in the Australian countryside designed by her adoptive father Peter (Benjamin Winspear) and mother Michelle (Felicity Price). On a short list for her delinquent behaviour, Amy develops a friendship (and attraction) to her neighbour Chloe (Samara Weaving), which seems to be the first step towards a new direction in Amy's life. However, Amy soon discovers that Chloe has anterior motives for their friendship.

Bad Girl tells the story of Amy, a teenage girl who has a less than spectacular relationship with her adoptive parents. Upset with being forced to move away from her girlfriend, Amy immediately tries to run away. She is stopped by Chloe, who seems to be a nice, friendly neighbor who seems truly concerned for Amy's well being. The two begin a friendship with each other, which soon develops into an attraction. However, Amy soon discovers that Chloe isn't as nice a girl that she initially seems.

From 2005's The Loved Ones to this year's Hounds of Love, there are some interesting thrillers coming out of Australia these days. While Bad Girl isn't as much as a horror film as those other two film, it is still a well-done Fatal Attraction-like story. Probably the biggest challenge in the film is from Samara Weaving (niece of Hugo), who has to convincingly portray Chloes as both the nice friend and the more crazed person she turns out to be. Altogether, Bad Girl is a film worth checking out.
