Sean Kelly

Movie Theatre Shooting Mars Dark Knight Rises Opening

The Dark Knight Rises was one of the most anticipated movies of the year and it seemed prime to make a bundle over the weekend.  However, none of that seems to matter any more in the wake of a tragic shooting in Aurora, Colo., where a masked gunman opened fire at a screening of the film, killing 12 and injuring at least 50.

This news already resulted in the cancellation of the Paris premiere of the film and I am left to wonder how it will effect the film's overall box office.  There is already going to be no doubt that more than a few right wing analysts will probably bring back the "life imitating art" argument that is used whenever one of these tragedies occurs.

Well, we can only wait and see how this shooting effects the film overall.  I for one will still be at the cinema this evening to see the film, albeit a bit more subdued.
