Ready for Toronto After Dark

Toronto After Dark Film Festival 1

Tickets went on sale earlier this week for the Toronto Dark Film Festival, which is entering its fifth year.  After occurring the last two years in late August, this year the festival moves back to a, more appropriate, October timeslot.  This year also sees the festival moving from the Bloor Cinema, to the more genre-friendly Toronto Underground Cinema.

This will be my third year attending the festival, having seen one film each for the previous two years.  This year, I decided to slightly increase my festival experience and see two films.

The first film that I seeing is the film that I was quite interested in since was first announced at the TAD festivals booth during Fan Expo.  That is of course the opening film Monster Bash.  This film essentially combines classic monsters with professional wresting (including appearances by real wrestling personalities).  I am definitely looking forward to this one.

The second film I decided to check out is VS.  This film is described as Kick-Ass meets Saw and it looks to be a dark and film about a group of superheroes, who are forced to save a group a booby-trapped people from a madman.  The film definitely stood out for me.

Those two films are only a sampling of the 17 films that will be playing from October 20-27.  For a full list and schedule (and to buy tickets), head to the Toronto After Dark website.
