Sean Kelly

My Thoughts on Biutiful

One thing that can definitely said about this film is that it is a quite depressing film.  The film focuses on a man who finds out he is dying of cancer and he tries to right the wrongs in his life.

The film is entire built around Javier Bardem's performance and while slow at parts (the film is nearly 2 1/2 hours long), the film does feature a gripping story, which also features two subplots (and multi-coloured subtitles to represent different languages).

One of the quirks of the films, which is shown in a matter-of-fact fashion is that Bardem's character has the ability to communicate with the recently deceased (though the film doesn't really dwell on that area).

Overall, I thought it was an excellent film, though it's definitely not something to watch casually.

About Sean Kelly -

Sean Patrick Kelly is a self-described ├╝ber-geek, who has been an avid film lover for all his life. He graduated from York University in 2010 with an honours B.A. in Cinema and Media Studies and he likes to believe he knows what he’s talking about when he writes about film (despite occasionally going on pointless rants).
