It’s been over a month since my last DVD column, so it’s about time I get back into the swing of things. My top pick for this week is Splice, which I still consider to be a success in how it is one of the few Canadian productions (not directed by David Cronenberg or Atom Egoyan) to receive a wide North American release (by Warner Bros nonetheless). Not too shabby for a fairly weird sci-fi/horror film. On to the picks.

Splice

My Thoughts: An intriguing film that sci-fi fans would love.
My Recommendation: Buy it if you love sci-fi (otherwise rent it)

A Nightmare on Elm Street (2010)

Standard – $26.99 (CAN), $16.99 (US)
My Thoughts: Worth watching only for Jackie Earle Haley’s interpretation of Freddy Krueger.
My Recommendation: Rent It
