Quick talk about trailer ratings

As you probably know, the MPAA inserts a colour-coded notice at the beginning of movie trailers.

The most common would be the "Green Band" trailer for all audiences. Then there is the "Red Band" for Restricted audiences and the "Yellow Band" for Age Appropriate Internet Users.

What I want to talk about today are the "Red Band" trailers (though it probably also applies somewhat to "Yellow Band"). Official sites for movies have started including Red Band trailers for restricted films. To see these trailers, you need to do a quick age-verification.

I simply need to enter my name, my birthdate, and my zip code.

That is where I have my concern. You see, I live in Canada, where we have postal codes instead of zip codes and there is no way in hell I can ever be verified on these official sites, despite the fact I am definitely old enough (25) to watch the trailer.

All I can say, is thank goodness I can also get the trailers off of YouTube.
